Wondering why our bodies don't progress as well as we used to be in our teens, twenties or maybe thirties. Isn’t that an easy way out to put a blame on "OLD AGE" when we get to the point where aches and pains kick in. Truthfully, we are having a hard enough time to accept the fact that our bodies are failing to function adequately in our daily activities in the current age. Fact of the matter is our proper gaits tend to be constantly out of the alignment due to the way we walk, which means all issues are originated from the feet. Amazingly, it is so much easier to put blames on everything that debilitates us. We are never at fault. We can only feel wonderful or aches & pains free when we decide to take responsibility for our health.
Question is what are we looking for in a therapist? Do we want our existing chronic and/or acute aches and pains in our bodies to go away completely or just a simple rub down will be fine?
Here are some thoughts about the symmetry or alignment of the body. We lose flexibility thru lack of physical activities or overly active, or injuries or/and all the above. With these reasons, the body yields off less fluid between the fascias and connective tissues which build up adhesion in the tissues. In addition to less fluidity between the tissues, the tautness of the muscles becomes so intense that it affects the stiffness of the joints. Then the body has its mind of its own. It begins to shift its position to find its comfort zone. Sooner or later the body develops its’ major aches and pains everywhere else due to the adhesion in the tissues that are pressing on the nerves. Then we start putting blame on “OLD AGE”. Sadly to say yes, age is one of the major factors that generate inflexibility. However, we are totally responsible to minimize the aches and pains in our body. We can simply accomplish our needs of being more diligent about flexibility by meeting the 5 components of fitness and seeking the right body work therapist to put the body back in order.
The body is enveloped by fascia nets. What is fascia? Fascia is a tough connective tissue which spreads throughout the body in a three-dimensional web from head to toe. Fascia nets are the foundation of the body. Without the fascias holding on the muscles or connective tissues, we are just a slimy form of gels. The bone gives the body a structure. The connective tissues protect and support the body for movement. However, with trauma, bad posture and/or inflammation can form binding down of the fascia which is known as scar tissues or adhesion. This scarring of the fascias can place extreme pressure on the nerves, muscles, blood vessels, osseous structure and/or organs. In addition to the fascia, the spine also facilitates the entire movement of the body. When the fascia nets are restricted in the spine, movements are limited and the central nervous system is stored with a lot of confusion. Not only that our physical develops physical debilitation, but our mental health may also arise with issues. That’s when “STRESS” hormone begins to flood the system. The benefit about this type of body work is to revive the health of our spine and reeducate the motor learning skills to performing a proper posture. Hopefully, we will reinforce the relearning skills in life.
The most common problems occur from the feet due to weight bearing activities. A flat tire is relatively similar to humans who have flat feet. If flat feet are not corrected over the period of time, problems may arise. It is just a matter of time. One kink leads to another. By the time we realize it, it is too late. Our bodies need major overhaul and alignment. Thus, normal functional activities cannot be sustained due to the long term offset of the body structure. Slowly but surely the body takes its’ tolls. As a result, the chain reaction occurs. The fascia webs become twisted and the connective tissues start to tax the body with more metabolite waste. That’s when the sensitivity of the body begins. The body compensates one side due to pain. As a result, the brain sends out messages to all different directions to the body which are known as referred pains. Imagine the brain signals as if it were the sewage being backed up, and someone tries to flush the toilet. As expected, the toilet becomes overflow and water starts to flood the whole area. These are what we see in the stressful physical world in our lives. If the body is in distress, the mind makes hasty decision.
In order to allow our body to move gracefully, we should at least maintain our bodies through bodywork therapy on a regular basis. In the long run, this treatment promotes our health highly and enhances the quality of our lives. Love ourselves and take care of our bodies. Then our bodies will do the work for us more efficiently as we move gracefully to your wisdom age. Spiritually, this expands our horizons to mental clarity too. Overall, the mind, body and spirit achieve peace, harmony & tranquility. Enjoy the physical activity that we love to do and don’t let aches and pains govern our lives. The key is to live well, stay healthy, eat a well-balanced diet, take vitamins, drink lots of water, exercise regularly, have an open mind, & tune up our body as often as we can.
May we always be in great mental & physical health.
